Test Protocol

  1. Patient sits in standard arm chair (seat height ~46cm)
  2. Mark a line 3 meters from the chair
  3. Patient wears regular footwear, may use assistive device
  4. On "Go," patient stands up, walks to the line, turns around
  5. Walks back to chair and sits down
  6. Time starts on "Go" and stops when patient is seated
  7. One practice trial allowed, then record timed trial

Disclaimer: The Timed Up and Go test is a quick functional assessment for mobility and fall risk. It has excellent reliability but should be used alongside other clinical assessments. Cutoff values may vary based on population. Original research by Podsiadlo & Richardson (1991).
